More engagement on your Instagram posts

How do you get more likes on your Instagram posts?

Do you want to increase your engagement rate on Instagram?

Getting more likes will help you ensure that future posts will be more visible, as the platform's algorithm works to show users content that resembles what they may have previously been interested in, in addition to Watchtime we were talking about right here.

So some best practices to be sure that your publications on instagram have what it takes to perform.

Take care of your content

Content is the base

It all starts with good content, it must be powerful, dynamic and aimed at a wide audience.

Recall what said Maxence Tison in this regard, in episode 9 of Content Factory: social networks are there to entertain us above all.

Writing great legends...

... for Instagram it seems obvious. The hardest part is finding what's right for your brand. That's going to vary, of course.

For example, the shortest captions are not necessarily the best. It all depends on what you have to say and how relevant it is to explain what you have photographed.

Each hashtag...

... that you use has the potential to open your post and your brand as a whole to a whole new audience. Consider your hashtag strategy:

  • Don't be too broad (for example, #dog), but don't be too specialized (for example, #labradoodlesofgreenpoint)
  • Use an effective number of hashtags (studies indicate that posts with 9 hashtags get the most engagement)
  • Consider creating a branded hashtag
  • Use hashtags in stories and your bio

Post consistently and at the right time

As an Instagram brand, you don't want to annoy your followers, but you don't want to be a ghost either. A content calendar is a great tool to help you plan how many messages are needed to keep people's attention without losing quality.

But instead of dropping everything to post twice a day, we recommend using a social media management tool that allows you to schedule Instagram posts. So, you can save time by spending a few hours a week putting your messages together, and spend the rest of the time relaxing and watching Instagram happen. (Or, you know, doing all the rest of this list and running your business.)

Instagram doesn't show posts chronologically, but its algorithm favors the most recent posts. Which means that if you want your post to end up in front of users, it's important that you know when your audience is actually watching the app.

Ok, so when exactly is it?

Your own analyses will already give you some indications. Then it all depends on your sector. We invite you to go and consult the schedules indicated hither to find out more!

Tag brands or invite collaborators to the post

Whether you're marking a collaborator, a new acquaintance, or the hero of your childhood, the aim is to highlight how much you value them and to share that value with your audience.

This one can be tricky. Save it for great posts so people really want their friends to see them. You also probably need to give them a reason (say, a gift?) to not just broadcast it privately.

Partnering with an influencer

Find an influential player in your industry that you can partner with. Ask them to take and post a photo of them with your product on their profile and on yours. This allows your business to reach a greater number of people within your target market and to increase your credibility through this social proof.

Influencer followers take their decisions into account, which means that the people they're messaging will be more likely to buy a product from your business.

When posting videos, add subtitles!

As we tell you again, subtitles allow you to gain visibility! Videos are most of the time watched without sound, wouldn't you want your video to be scrolled without interest? To avoid this: ADD SUBTITLES! This is essential to gain visibility but it also makes it possible to be more accessible, especially to deaf and hard of hearing people. To do this, use Capte and add subtitles.
